Our Testimonials

We booked a Pennyman Tour while visiting the region and it ended up being the highlight of our trip. The attention to historical detail, local anecdotes, and well-planned route made the experience both educational and enjoyable. You can tell this is a team that genuinely cares about preserving and sharing history.

Pennyman Tours brought history to life in a way textbooks never could. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared stories you won’t find online. It felt like stepping back in time while still being engaging and fun. Highly recommended for anyone who truly wants to understand the area’s past

Pennyman Tours offers an exceptional historical experience. The tour was well-paced, informative, and filled with fascinating insights about local landmarks and events. It was clear a lot of research and passion went into every part of the tour. We left with a much deeper appreciation for the area.

We booked a private all day tour with Roger and it was the absolute highlight of our trip to Atlanta. Roger worked with us in advance to develop a tour of the city and the surrounding areas to ensure we would see both historical and specifically requested sites of interest. Roger's knowledge of American history, especially civil rights is amazing. He covered every detail about historical Atlanta through today. Roger is not only a great tour guide, but he is a great person to be with for an all-day adventure. He is warm, kind, caring, and funny. Our only disappointment was that certain places were closed due to the government shutdown, but the silver lining is that we plan to return to see those sites next year, of course with Roger's Red Jacket Tours. We also plan on taking a several day tour to Alabama for the Civil Rights Tour with Roger. We are excited to return! Thank you, Roger!

Thank you for your thoughtful insights of the Civil Rights Movement, the conditions under which it arose, and where things stand today. The Atlanta and Alabama Civil Rights Tours were both sobering and impressive in the documentation of historic events. In Atlanta, we went to the King Center; the National Park Service sites were closed due to the Government Shutdown. Walking the Pettus Bridge in Selma, visiting the Montgomery Legacy Museum, and witnessing the monument to the many Black people who were lynched at the Montgomery National Memorial for Peace and Justice were memorable events. The schedule included good food and many interesting conversations. It was a day to remember.

Lifelong learners is a trait my friends and I share. Our recent trip to Atlanta was impacted by the government shutdown. However Roger Pennyman’s informed narrative saved the day. His knowledge of the civil rights movement and the history of Atlanta made for an interesting and thought provoking experience. We also traveled to Selma and Montgomery with Roger. He provided the background information so thatwe could better understand the events of the past and comprehend the present situation. The Legacy Museum was unlike any other experience and well worth the drive. I would highly recommend the time and talents of tour guide, Roger Pennyman.

I want to thank you for two amazing trips: our Atlanta Civil Rights tour and our tour of Selma and Montgomery. In spite of some places under federal auspices being closed, you provided a rich experience on both tours. Your knowledge of Civil Rights history is both broad and deep and you are a great story teller. You are fun to be with, courteous and definitely patient. Thank you again for making our vacation an extremely memorable one.
